Variable Area Type Spring Loaded Desuperheater Multi Nozzle
Similar to the other desuperheater models, this desuperheater is also a non-integral type & required a separate control valve.
This type of desuperheater also uses the variable area spring loaded nozzle. The number of nozzles is decided based on the required water quantity. Here the nozzles head / housing is fitted on the pipe circumference & the nozzles are protruded inside the pipe. All these nozzles are connected through a common pipe line which is connected to water line through a water connection. The water injection happens near pipe ID. Thus the cooling will happen from all around.
The DSH is always supplied with a header pipe & the thermal liner whenever necessary. It is recommended to have a steam velocity of more than 8m/s for proper mixing of water. If the velocity is lesser than the above, then liner is provided which increases the velocity at the point of injection.
The line is also recommended when the difference between the uncooled steam temperature & the water temperature is more than 250 deg. C. This is to protect the inside of pipe wall from thermal gradients.
